Abstract

Wahabi, which as the pioneer of various radical Islamic movements, had extreme doctrines, in the form of sacredness doctrine –because it claimed that only the Quran and hadith are eligible as sources-. Likewise, Wahabi considered heretic towards other than its followers, as well as takfir (disbelieve) anyone who uses Ijtihadi source. This study aims firstly, to describe the claims of heresy towards tawassul, grave pilgrimage, and ‘maulid Nabi’. Secondly, to describe Wahabi rejection of Ijma’ and Qiyas. Thirdly, do a critical analysis of Wahabi claims with the moderate argument of Ahlussunnal wal Jama’ah in the book al-Fajr al-Shadiq as its main comparison. With the content analysis method, and based on literature sources, the result of this study state that the Wahabi defeated tawassul and grave pilgrimage, because according to its doctrine, there was no foundation either from the Quran and Hadith which became the basis of that practice legitimation. Secondly, that Wahabi rejected the Qiyas and Ijma’ because it was impossible to make an agreement all scholars in the world over a law. Besides that, Wahabi politicized the verse as the argument for the prohibition of Ijma and Qiyas. Thirdly, that Wahabi rejection of all heresies and ijtihadi sources violates the principles of moderation and tolerance, which are the foundation of Ahlussunnah wal Jama’ah.
